NI & Ulster Senior XC at Lurgan
On Saturday Northern Ireland’s largest urban park, Lurgan Park in County Armagh played host to the NI & Ulster Senior Cross Country Championships. The picturesque park has proved a popular choice of venue with competitors over the last number of years and nearly 300 taking part in the event. This event also incorporated the final fixture of the Athletics NI XC League 2016/17, with double points on offer for clubs. There was a fantastic turnout from the club in both the female (6k) and male (12k) race. The heavy rain on Friday made for soft conditions under foot.
In the ladies race the top three ladies for Orangegrove were Edwina Ternan (27:34), Julie McKimm (28:17) and Emma McWilliams (30:52). The race itself was won by Jessica Craig (North Down AC). It was great to see the ladies contribute three times to the team competition only bettered by two other clubs. Full results for the ladies are below.
