We Run Wild Belfast 2 Derry 75 Mile Ultra 2024
A big congratulations to Michael O’Donoghue on completing the inaugural 75 mile Belfast to Derry Ultramarathon. Starting in Belfast at noon on Saturday the route took Michael through Antrim, Randalstown, Toomebridge, Castledawson, Moneyneany, Feeny and Claudy before finally arriving in Derry late the next morning. I see that your Strava actually has over 76 miles – very impressive doing a bonus mile after all that. Well done Michael, fantastic achievement!

Jimmy’s 10k – 5k Relay
Team Bates (Elaine and Andrew) completed the (slightly shorter than Michael’s race) Jimmy’s 10k relay. Despite the horrible conditions, they were spurred on by the great spread offered by East Down Athletics Club and came in 9th out of the 23 teams taking part. Well done to you both!

Parkrun Report
09/03/2024
On Saturday morning there were a large number of members from the club donning our bright Orange OAC T-Shirts and flocking to Stormont Parkrun to help promote the club name. As well as the great turnout we had Andrew Carson and Elaine Weston both running new Stormont parkrun personal bests.
Congrats also to Andrew as this was his 100th parkrun. 100 parkruns but no first place finishes as of yet, do I need to say more? He has though had five 2nd place and four 3rd place finishes (including his 3rd place finish at Stormont on Saturday) so hopefully he’ll get it before I’m writing about his next parkrun milestone. Also his overall PB so far is 17.38 at Victoria Park so not all bad news.
