CS Lewis 5 Mile Challenge

Several members of OAC were taking part in the CS Lewis 5 Mile Challenge on Friday night. The race starts and finishes at CS Lewis Square with a few laps of Victoria Park in between. A lap of the island in Victoria Park is included meaning this is a mixed terrain race with 40% on trail and 10% on grass.

Even though our bitter rivals Victoria Park & Connswater Athletics Club organise this race we are a gracious enough club that we can admit that it was a fantastic event and very well organised. There were great times from all our runners in this one, the post-race beers were well-earned!

Danny Bradley – 27.20
Robin Montgomery – 35.14
Michael O’Donoghue – 35.40
Edwina Ternan – 36.11
Pauline Bayliss – 36.12
Tom Smith – 37.29
Colin Simpson – 38.12
Sarah Steer – 38.36
Gillian McGucken – 44.59
Eoghan Rainey – 45.17

Parkrun Report

08/06/2024

Even with the CS Lewis 5 Mile Challenge the night before we still had a great turnout for parkrun. There was the usual tourism with 4 of us visiting new locations; Jean Stone in Navan, Keith Weir at Queen’s parkrun Glasgow, Alison Canning at Holyrood and Eleanor Acheson at The Fisherman’s Walk. Alison Canning leads the way in locations with these folks with Holyrood being her 62nd location.

There was a big Orangegrove milestone this week also, with Danny Bradley’s run at Valley, Newtownabbey being his 100th parkrun. Congratulations Danny! If his PB of 16.22 at Victoria Park wasn’t impressive enough, out of the 100 he has finished first 22 times, at 15 different locations. There’s still plenty of time to complete the dream of a 1st place finish in each of the parkruns in Northern Ireland as well.

Great running everyone!
