Run Forest Run – Castlewellan 10k

Emily Paisley was taking part in the 6th and final race of the Run Forest Run Series. The race starts and finishes in the shadow of the lakeside castle, with runners enjoying fantastic views of the Mourne Mountains and the Peace Maze. Well done on completing the series Emily, I hope the races had enough hills for you.

Watersons Hale 10k

Brian Todd was representing Orangegrove in the Hale 10k in South Manchester on Sunday. Starting in the main village of Hale the race heads out into the countryside of Ashley, weaving through country lanes before finishing in the spectacular grounds of Ashley Hall. From the comments online it appears to be a well organised and very enjoyable race. Also running was Brian’s daughter Ruth, who apparently now runs faster than him! I’m sorry to hear that Brian, I’m sure you’d still beat her if it was age-graded!

Parkrun Report

17/02/2024

We’re really doing a good job with the parkrun tourism at the moment! Seven of us were trying out new locations on Saturday; Jean Stone at Rostrevor, Keith Weir at MUSA Cookstown, Kerris Hamilton at Castlewellan, Elaine Weston at Oldbridge, Andrew Bates at Hillsborough Forest and Michael O’Donoghue and Verity Cornford at Sports Ireland Campus. No prizes for guessing who among them has the most different locations. Obviously, it’s the man relentlessly chasing 100 parkrun locations, Michael O’Donoghue, with Sports Ireland Campus being his 91st.

As well as doing a new location Elaine Weston also was the first female finisher at Oldbridge – I see there were only 39 runners though, maybe I’ll have to make a trip down there myself. The final point of note was Mrs Stormont parkrun, also known as Gemma Blake, once again being first finisher – that’s four times in a row now, give someone else a chance!

Great running everybody!
