Weekly Report – 18th September-24th September 2023

Lecale Way Ultra

When it seems like a slow week for races you can always count on Michael O’Donoghue doing an ultra-marathon somewhere to bulk up the weekly report. This weekend he was taking on the Lecale Way Ultra which runs from Strangford 50km along the coast to Newcastle. There was also a 100km out and back option which, strangely, he didn’t opt for.

There are no map reading skills necessary for this ultra as it follows the Lecale Way route, which provides spectacular views with the race finishing in the shadow of the Mourne Mountains.

Even though it was windy on the day and the tide was in I’m sure he found it a lot easier than he did in December 2022 when he ran it the day after several Xmas drinks.

Well done Michael! Glad you enjoyed it.

Parkrun Report

23/09/23

The big parkrun news this week was at Stormont with Andrew McIntyre not only finishing 1st but also taking 30 seconds off his previous best Stormont parkrun time completing the course in just 17.27. Congrats on adding yet another location where you’ve finished 1st!

Elsewhere, Selina Myles and Verity Cornford were visiting new parkrun locations, in Enniskillen and Comber respectively. That’s Selina’s 38th location and Verity’s 43rd. Well done folks.
