Mount Stewart Run the Trails 10k and Half-Marathon

OAC completely dominated at the big event this weekend, taking 3 of the 6 podium places available in the Mount Stewart Run the Trails 10k on Saturday. Congratulations to Danny Bradley coming in first, to Andrew McIntyre on his second place finish and to Edwina Ternan on being 3rd female finisher. The race took in the grounds of Mount Stewart with plenty of hills to contend with. Well worth it to enjoy the great hospitality provided by Scrabo Striders even if their marshalling was unorthodox at times. Well done to everyone who took part.

Mallusk 5 Mile Road Race

Verity Cornford represented Orangegrove in the Mallusk 5 Mile Road Race. From the photos online it looks like a well supported event with some great hospitality afterwards – apparently there was Avonmore Protein Milk at the finish line! Well done Verity – the online photos of the “incline of inspiration” have put me off ever doing this race.

Verity Cornford – 45.02

We Run Wild Waterfoot to Ballycastle

If you were wondering why Michael O’Donoghue opted for just the 10k at Mount Stewart it’s because he was running his favourite local marathon earlier in the day. This mountain race marathon takes in the Glenariff waterfalls, the enchanted forests and views over to Rathlin and Scottish islands. Well done Michael on (yet again) running two races in one day – such commitment!

Michael O’Donoghue – 6.09.45

Glenmore AC Carlingford 5km

Brian Todd was representing OAC at the Glenmore AC Carlingford 5k. Brian had high praise for the route, which started in the shadow of King John’s castle and finished through the Thosel Gate, and for the supportive crowd lining the streets. He treated himself to a Guinness afterwards – well deserved after claiming another age category award! Great running Brian.

Brian Todd – 22.32

Parkrun Report

05/08/23

The big news at parkrun this week was David Montgomery coming in as first finisher at Orangefield parkrun. Congrats David on your first ever first place finish at parkrun, and it only took you 112 attempts. Great running all the same.
