Weekly Report – 3rd July-9th July 2023

Round The Springs Greyabbey 5k

A few Orangegrove members made the trip to Greyabbey for the 5k on Friday night starting from the Greyabbey Village Hall. Good to see two OAC members win their age categories in this race – Brian Todd finishing first in the M70 category and Elaine Weston doing the same in the F45 category. Well done folks.

Brian Todd – 22.51
Elaine Weston – 25.25
Gerald Harvey – 28.42

The Great Rossa Run

The Great Rossa Run was taking place on Sunday in Ardboe. This event caters for all types of runners with a half-marathon, 10k and a 5k race. Michael O’Donoghue made the trip to Loughshore to represent OAC and put in a good time on a very sunny day.

Michael O’Donoghue – 1.37.57

Parkrun Report

08/07/23

The big news this week is Andy McIntyre, after finishing 2nd for his last 5 parkruns in a row, finally achieving what he must have thought had become impossible and finished in 1st place in Armagh parkrun. A comfortable victory though, with his time of 18.07 being 14 seconds quicker than the 2nd place finisher who was literally a child. Well done Andy.

Danny Bradley and Keith Weir were the other two Orangegrovers to finish under 20 minutes this week, both of them having to settle for 2nd place in their parkruns. Hopefully neither of them go on a streak of 2nd places the way Andy managed to.

Elsewhere Adrian Sproule got his Omagh parkrun pb, and Catherine McIntyre and Selina Myles both visited new locations – Armagh and Garvagh Forest respectively. That’s Catherine’s 40th location and Selina’s 33rd.

Great running everybody.
