Ras Ryngwladol yr Wyddfa – International Snowdon Race

The highlight of last weekend was Andrew Tees representing Northern Ireland in the International Snowdon Race. Due to the heavy rain and wind the turning point was at Clogwyn this year, but by the sounds of things the race was still as tough and as enjoyable as ever though with hundreds of athletes from around the world descending on Llanberis to run this famous race. Well done Andy on an amazing time.

Andrew Tees – 46.26

Fingal 10k

Andrew Carson was taking place in the Fingal 10k, a race that is part of the Irish Life Dublin Marathon Race Series, as he continued his quest for a sub-37 minute 10k. And on his 5th attempt I am glad to confirm it has been achieved – by a single second! Next target, sub-36.

Andrew Carson – 36.59

Irvinestown 5k

Elsewhere, Elaine Bates made the last minute decision to enter Irvinestown 5k, and it definitely paid off with an age category win. Brilliant Elaine, I know you said it was a small field but you can only beat what’s put in front of you!

Elaine Bates – 26.45

Parkrun Report

15/07/23

Danny Bradley who finished 2nd at parkrun last week went one better this time and finished 1st at Valley parkrun. That’s Danny’s 6th parkrun there and he’s won it half the time he’s run it, his home away from home – if anyone can better that 50% win ratio let me know!

Elsewhere Anne Devlin got her Stormont parkrun pb, almost a minute faster than her previous best in 2017. And Judith McCann, Selina Myles and Emily Paisley all visited new locations – Westport, Limavady and Sixmilewater respectively. Selina Myles leads the way out of these folks with 34 different locations.

Well done everyone!

Errors and omissions – David Montgomery let me know that I had missed him out when mentioning those of us that’d ran sub-20 minute parkruns last week. That was actually the 3rd week in a row that he’d run a sub-20 parkrun, but was much slower with a time of 21.55 this week – obviously his confidence was shaken after being forgotten about. Sorry David!
