Weekly Report – 29th May-4th June 2023

Norn Iron Ultra 100

Only a couple of races to cover from last week but this one is an absolute beast. Norn Iron Ultra 100, any guesses for what distance the race is? That’s right – 106 miles of course. Michael O’Donoghue was the OACer taking part in the unique run along the North Antrim Coast involving bogland, trail, forestry, road and beach. Starting in Ballintoy and running along the Causeway Coast, the route passes through Portrush, Portstewart, Ballycastle, Castlerock and across the Sperrin’s, the Glenshane Pass and on to the finishing line in the village of Gortin. The run is described on the We Run Wild website as “challenging” which I think is a fair assessment.

Hill & Dale Series – Millstone

Thursday night also saw the latest race in the Hill & Dale Series, but there was only one OAC runner involved this time – everyone else must have been put off by the heatwave! Well done to Sarah Steer for taking part in very humid conditions.

Sarah Steer – 59.51

Parkrun Report

03/06/23

This week a couple of OACers ticked off new parkrun locations as Adrian Sproule and Selina Myles travelled to Omagh and Armagh respectively – that’s Selina’s 32nd overall location.

The quickest OAC time this week was Andrew McIntyre with a time of 17.13 at Victoria Park, finishing in 2nd place for the third week in a row – always a bridesmaid never the bride.

The highlight this week though was a big milestone being set at Victoria Park as Sarah Steer ran her 100th parkrun, and what a way to mark the occasion. Sarah ran it in a time of 23.05 which is her fastest parkrun since 2018, and her fastest Victoria Park Parkrun since her fastest ever parkrun time in 2013 (22.28). Well done on a great run and congrats on getting to 100 parkruns.
