Weekly Report – 24th April-30th April 2023

Belfast Marathon

Well done to everyone running the Belfast Marathon on Sunday, whether it was the full 26.2 miles or as part of a relay team. Congratulations to all of you! After months of training, including the long runs starting at a completely unnatural time on a Sunday morning, you’ve all ran great times so enjoy the relaxation and recovery! I’m sure it won’t be long until you get tempted into booking your next marathon, I think Keith Weir has already signed up for Valencia in December the lunatic!

I’m hoping that David and Robin Montgomery don’t have another one booked for next weekend after doing London and Belfast a week apart, but they might have to do another one soon as a tie-breaker after winning one each!

Hill & Dale Series – Race 3 – Rostrevor

Earlier in the week we also had the Hill & Dale series return to Rostrevor for Slieve Martin. Great to see OAC with another good turnout in the series, and well done to Andrew Tees finishing in 3rd place – only 3 seconds off the winner!

Parkrun Report

29/04/23

With the Belfast Marathon this weekend I had assumed that the parkrun report would be shorter than usual but you people just can’t get enough running apparently.

The highlight of the week was Danny Bradley travelling to Falls parkrun for the first time, and winning it with a time of 19.08! Maybe he’ll go there more often now. Great running Danny.

It seems like every week now someone hits a new milestone – this week it was Alison Hall-Thompson’s turn as she ran her 100th parkrun. Her best time was in 2016 when she ran a 24.16 parkrun in Victoria Park, this had an age-grading of 63.05%. 86 out of the 100 have been at Victoria Park – if anyone is more loyal to the Victoria Park parkrun please let me know! Well done Alison, great work getting to 100 parkruns and excellent to see you back running again.
