Comber Potato 10K
Today saw 237 runners descend on Comber for the inaugural Mash Direct Comber Potato Run 10k – organised by Ballydrain Harriers.
The race took in part of the tough Ards Half Marathon route, and like that event it was well organised and marshalled. Most importantly Ballydrain Harriers pulled out all the stops and provided a huge array of homemade cakes and buns to replace essential vitamins and minerals lost as a result of the humid conditions.
Brendan Teer from East Down AC was first over the finishing line with a time of 33:33, followed by Paul Rowan from Willowfield Harriers and Ben Morrow from Ballymena Runners with times of 34:39 and 34:55 respectively.
1st lady was Amanda Perry from host club Ballydrain Harriers with a time of 41:45 closely followed by Orangegrove’s Lyndsey Pronger (42nd overall) with a time of 42:35, Ruth Perioli from Lagan Valley in 42:57.
This is yet another podium place for Lyndsey, OAC ladies bagged another gong with Liz Leitch being the first in the F45 category over the finish line with a time of 55:25 (153rd overall) – great running Lyndsey and Liz!
Other OAC results were as follows; Paul Tyro (41st) 42:33, in spite of having to stop twice to tie the laces on his new Hokas (other brands of footwear are available) Michael O’Donoghue completed the course in 46:29 coming 67th, Rodney Corrigan 46:57, Paul Buchanan; 51:24, Hannah Macleod, who ran the Victoria Park parkrun (other parkruns are available) earlier in the morning for warm up secured a time or 54:37, Kirsty Buchanan; 54:46, Sharon Corken; 55:25, Catherine Fearon; 59:45 and Paula O’Reilly 01:05:57 – great to have you back Paula.
