Portaferry 10 Miler & Relay

Despite lots of action-packed running the previous weekend, a reasonably sized contingent made it down to Portaferry for the annual 10 mile road race that takes place during their gala. Starting in the town and circling along the eastern coast of the peninsula it would be considered one of the more scenic races. However, unusually for a warm summer evening, the entire area was covered in fog which may have helped some of the times of the runners as well as obscure the scenery.

The relay teams did superbly on the evening. Joe Craney & John Craig won the event overall with a combined time of 56m21s with a lead of 2 minutes. Jennifer Black & Lyndsey Pronger were the first female team to finish with a time of 65m05 seconds. Shortly behind was Paul Woodman & Rachel Lyle with a time of 66m20s then Alan Montgomery and Verity Cornford (79m02s)

In the 10 mile event Sile Brennan was 3rd lady with a stunning time of 70m14s. Brian Todd (72m05s) and Anne Moore (74m54s) won category prizes and Hugh Young (91m56s) won a prize for being the most senior runner on the night.

Other times were:

Darren Houston 76m54s
Rodney Corrigan 77m39s
Michael O’Donoghue 79m36s
Zdzislaw Malkinski 79m45s
Melinda Wilkinson 96m58s
Lisa Fleming 96m58s

Great event as always and we look forward to the final event of the series at Millisle PSC
