EAH Forest Trail Series – Ballyboley Forest
13th May 2014.
On a sunny Tuesday evening 10 Orangegrove AC athletes journeyed to Ballyboley Forest near Larne for the start of East Antrim AC’s trail series. 1st event in a 4 part series, there were just under 100 present, with a good turnout from Larne AC, East Coast AC, Mallusk Harriers and Ballymena Runners.
The race itself turned out to be fairly tough with a formidable hill at the start and several small ones thereafter. Distance-wise it totalled a bit over 4 miles. There was some light relief as there were several markings on the ground joking about how each one was the final hill, but wasn’t.
The club put in a decent effort in the event. Louise Lemon, who won the ladies race last year, came second this time with a time of 30m12s winning the Female Open category in a close battle at the front. Ian Grant and Darren Marshall were soon behind with times of 30m23s and 30m42s respectively. Other times were:
