Queen’s ‘Round the River’ 5K
On Wednesday 2nd April Queens University held this popular fixture on NI race calendar which spans the Stranmillis and Annadale Embankments. Its flat and fast course attracts some of the provinces top athletes. On this occasion NI Half Marathon record holder Paul Pollock made an appearance, which attracted a lot of publicity to the event.
The lure of a quick 5k time and it being a club championship event resulted in 29 athletes from OAC in attendance, making it one of the better represented clubs amongst the turnout of nearly 600 runners. In a field where the front runners were getting times close to 14 minutes, it was always going to be difficult for us to grab a podium place, but we did very well by our own standards.

Overall its difficult to finds fault with this event. Well organised with soup and pizza afterwards and a quality shirt, its an event we’re sure to return to.
