Ballynahinch Lions 10k
On Saturday 26th April 6 Orangegrove AC athletes journeyed to deepest County Down for this annual fixture. Changes were made to the course this year to make it more accommodating to those after a fast time, but the 2 lap course through the Montalto Estate would still be considered to be a pretty hilly 10k.
In warm and windy conditions 156 runners made it out on the day and it resulted in some strong performances from our athletes. John Craig came 5th in the race overall with a time of 36:24, up with some of the provinces top athletes from East Down AC and Annadale Striders. New recruit Jennifer Black was 2nd in the ladies race with a time of 40:33, and set a new 10k ladies club record in the process. Joe Craney clearly wasn’t fazed too much from the Rotterdam Marathon with a great time of 40:08.
Also in attendance was Mark McFeeters (43:24), Zdzislaw Malkinski (46:18) and Pete McKenzie (55:53) Great running everyone. We do 10k road races pretty well!
