Newry City Marathon

May 25th 2014

There were dramatic changes to the routes of both the Marathon and Half Marathon routes this year from previously.  Both routes changed from using the northern towpaths to the dual carriageway to Warrenpoint with the aim of making them the flattest and most PB friendly events around.

We certainly saw some impressive performances from OAC athletes.  In the marathon event Paul Woodman finished with a time of 3h01m21s, showing that he’s still in great shape after the Boston Marathon.

There was a good turnout from the club for the Half Marathon events. Paul Tyro, who did the Prague Marathon a couple of weeks previously, finished with a great time of 1h26m02s.  Andy McIntyre, who’s been consistently superb since joining the club finished in 1h31m23s with Lindsay Pronger not far behind at 1h32m51s.

Rachel Lyle scored a PB on the day with a time of 1h41m44s.  The 2 OAC athletes who have done all the events in the Half Marathon series so far Darren Moffett and Paul Edgar finished in 1h43m36s and 2h03m47s.

Also running on the day were John Neill (2h03m45s) and Catherine Fearon (2h09m28s). Well done everyone and roll on Lisburn.
