Laganside 10K

One of Northern Ireland’s premier races, this event was the setting of the Northern Ireland 10k Road Running Championships. Organised by North Belfast Harriers, it got a strong turnout of nearly 900 for the flat and fast course along the banks of the Lagan and the edges of Belfast city centre.  Always a popular event with OAC runners looking for a PB, it had over a dozen running for the club it fairly good conditions.

The star of the show on this occasion was Jenny Black, who was 4th lady overall against a strong field, and first of OAC to finish, with a stunning time of 37m54s.  Coach Stephen Orr was next, dramatically getting his sub 40 minute PB with a time of 39m58s.  Chris Downey did well with a time of 41m29s.  Brian Todd, got a strong time of 42m37s. Michael O’Donoghue and Rachel Lyle got PB’s of 43m44s and 43m56s respectively.

Remaining times were:

Mark Williamson 44m18s
Pauline Bayliss 46m10s
Jacqui Maxwell 46m13s
Darren Marshall 48m58s
Alan Montgomery 49m01s
Adrian Sproule 51m33s

The ladies strong performance meant that the club won 2nd place in the ladies Northern Ireland 10k Championships team event. A great result. Well done everyone.
