Larne Half Marathon

24 Orangegrove Athletes attended popular local fixture, the Larne Half Marathon on Saturday 22nd March, and looking at how our club did, it’s striking how quick the average times are.

Newly elected President of ANI Gary Keenan let us all know that he hasn’t given up running competitively with a stunning performance of 1h18m47s, coming 14th overall.

Next was Thomas Leitch who extends his lead in the OAC Club Championship with a time of 1h22m27s. Joe Craney demonstrates that his preparation for Rotterdam is going well with a time of 1h28m53s.

Lyndsey Pronger in her first outing in an OAC vest nearly broke the club record with a time of 1h34m43s.  Brian Todd put in a great performance with a time of 1h37m39s.

Jo Patterson in her first Half Marathon got a stunning time of 1h41m59s.

Pauline Bayliss knocked several minutes off her HM PB with a time of 1h43m53s.

Notably, several of our athletes were acting as pacers to help others with their times. Paul Woodman helped Rachel Farrell get a well-deserved PB of 1h43m36s.  Darren Moffett who smashed his PB the previous week in Dundalk helped Julie McKimm get round in 1h49m23s.  Soon behind them were Paul Cordner and Sharon Dickenson on 1h50m09s.

Remaining results were:

Michael O’Donoghue 1h44m06s
Darren Houston 1h44m50s
Gavin Marshall 1h44m56s
Jacqui Maxwell 1h47m42s
Selina Myles 1h51m12s
Zdzislaw Malkinski 1h56m05s
Verity Cornford 1h57m49s
Steven Moore 1h58m35s
Martin Doherty 2h00m40s
Sharon Corken 2h00m42s
Paul Edgar 2h15m01s

A great race as always with better conditions on the day than expected. It’s looking good for this season of long distance races everyone!
